Matamata & HBHS take out Waikato Junior titles

Congratulations to the Matamata Junior Girls and Hamilton Boys’ High School Junior teams for winning the 2023 Waikato Junior Championship title.

The Matamata girls took down Hillcrest in the semifinals 2-0 before prevailing Te Awamutu 2-0 to win their first title since 2020.

The HBHS team took down previously unbeaten and defending champions Hillcrest High School. HBHS trailed 0-1 but went up 11-0 in the second set before closing it out and then taking the 3rd set 15-12.
