Waikato Success at 2023 IPC Champs

U17 BOYS GOLD MEDALIST

Congratulations to the U17 Premier Boys team for winning the U17 National Title for the first time in our region’s history!

During the finals against BOP A, the boys started slow losing 21-25. The BOP’s tough serving put the boys off rhythm and they were in out of system situations majority of the time. The boys went on a mini comeback towards the end of the set but it wasn’t enough. The boys regrouped and played their usual disciplined volleyball and went on to win the final 3 sets decisively, 25-16, 25-15, 25-12.

Congratulations extend to Jaxon Stone, Eui In Shin, Cayden Ritai and Liam Smith for their selection to the tournament team. Liam Smith took home MVP honours. Thank you to our coaches Seth Phork and Jack Sheppard and team manager Brendon Stone for your work with the boys this season.

OPEN MEN BRONZE MEDALISTS

Congratulations to our open men’s team for their 3rd place finish at the 2023 IPC tournament. This is the second straight season that our senior men’s team have claimed the bronze medal.

During pool play, the men’s team went 3-1 after wins against Harbour 2, Welllington, Manukau Auckland and a tough 5 set loss to WECA. The men came across eventual champions Harbour 1 in the semifinals and lost 0-3 but bounced back to avenge their earlier loss to WECA in the 3rd place match.

Congratulations and thank you to our coaches for leading the team this season. We look forward to having many of the players back for Club season.
