Hillcrest Boys and HGHS take out 2024 Waikato Senior Championships

Congratulations to Hillcrest High School boys and Hamilton Girls's High School for taking out the 2024 Waikato Senior Championships! Both schools repeat as winners from last year and deservedly earn themselves a spot in the Top 32 bracket of Senior Nationals.

The Hillcrest Senior boys took care of business against Tokoroa High School in 3 sets and went on to defeat HBHS in a sweep, finishing their season without a set loss. They continue to dominate the local competition, winning 7 straight titles and 10 out of the last 11 Waikato Senior Championships.

HGHS took down Cambridge High School in the semifinals before overcoming previously unbeaten Hillcrest High School senior girls. HGHS were down 1-2 sets and trailing big in the 4th before making a comeback to force the 5th set. Hillcrest had match point in set 5 before HGHS went on a 3 point run to take it out 17-15 in the final set and avenge their earlier season loss.
